📄︱May 2026 Recap
With my current college semester coming to a close, I now have the entirety of now until late August to finally get into diving my toes into the ocean of indie development. I have the whole canvas to myself, working on teaching myself the likes of Godot, as well as going through the plethora of games that I've recently gotten to enjoy the experiences they provide. I've been also doing numerous Archipelago scissions with various friends and servers, and all of them are amazing. As much as I'd like to state that I'm becoming more open than I used to, I still feel like I got some time for me to be completely different than who I was even by a year ago.
With that out of the way, here are some of the specifics that've happened this Month:
A Very Late, but Detrimental April Fools Joke
At the beginning of this month, I was searching for the soundtrack of Gimmick: EXACTMix, a remaster of the Famicom/NES Classic Gimmick! Otherwise known as Mr. Gimmick in Scandinavia. I saw a Twitter post that've claimed to have edited the music from a video considering this game's soundtrack hasn't been released, put it onto a folder and made it available to download, but once I downloaded it, I was immediately hit with a virus. It contained no music files but an exe that "extracted" the files, which was absolutely bs, and Windows immediately detected that something was going on and soon after I noticed my Discord was running amok. I've done the necessary measures to quickly recover my account, but it's strange that after 16 years of getting into electronics and computers that I would be fit with a legitimate attack. I don't think about it much but ever since, there's been some other instances of members I know from servers I talk in that've also been hacked and it makes me wish that these scammers can just.... have some mercury flavored apple juice, I guess.. I can't believe I've actually made that as part of a backstory for one of my characters during my indie game roleplaying days...
An Overhaul to My Website
I don't know why, but for some reason, I felt like the current stage of my website needed some good face lifting. It started off with me thinking how could I show off my reviews from my Bear Blog directly onto my website? And that's where it clicked. I got myself working on my website, and it now looks absolutely amazing.
Never have I thought I would make it this far in web development, and this is just the tip of the iceberg. I don't have much ideas atm, but I hope to improve this website so far into the future. It also includes a random chance for the profile of the website to turn into a cat! Do you think you can get it?
Double Yolk Fever!!
This is going to be an interesting one to cover as I don't usually dive too much into non-gaming related topics into these blog posts, but for the past few times having myself my usual breakfast for my morning routines, I've been getting double yolk eggs, which usually indicates a sign of good luck. And for the first time that I've gotten it, its been quite an achievement since I've always wished to get one of them, but this month started to show that maybe I wasn't getting enough of them to the point that I've had not two, not three, not four, but a smorgasbord amount of them. It unironically help me lose focus into talking about negative topics, and that's something that I tend to struggle with, especially when it comes about ranting with technology.
A Spotlight to Some Software: Archipelago Randomizer
And to top this last blog off, I want to share with you a software that I've briefly talked about in my last blog post: Archipelago Randomizer.. It's an incredbile program that allows for you to play Multiworld randomizers, a thing that enables other games to have items form their games that appear in other games. For a better way to explain it, when you start Metroid: Zero Mission, you usually go to the left to get Morph Ball, right? Well, imagine that Morph Ball can be anything, from anything else from Zero Mission (Power Grip, Wave Beam, Missiles, Power Bombs, etc) to someone else's Zero Mission's items, to even someone else's DELTARUNE items. That but in some, most, or whatever the amount of locations in your games, can have items that are apart of the multiworld. It's a technical marvel that I had never experienced before, and ever since the folks at the Terarria Metroid Mod Discord showed me this for the first time, I was immediately hooked and addicted to it. The rules are small, setting things up is very easy, and there's always support for more games provided that you have knowledge of coding to make your favorite games compatible, and maybe even core-verified! For more information, I suggest checking out its website that I linked to the above or the Discord Server since they have a LOT of games to choose from.
NEW/Revisited Games I've played and/or reviewed this month:
Note: I've started playing these games in date order.
