📄︱January 2026 Recap
Wow, what a great start to the new year, at least for me.
For the first time, I'm going to be talking about a short summary on how the months have been going for me on my end, and sharing some nice games I've collected and/or revisited on the way. The first thing I want to talk about is something that I have been waiting to discuss a bit later down the road of this month. I plan on making this a lot more polished later down the road, but for now, let's talk about...
My Twitter/Bluesky Takedowns
I don't know who exactly reads my blogs, but by any chance you've known me from my Twitter or Bluesky, you'll noticed that I stopped being active on those sites at the beginning of this year. To keep things short, I don't like how toxic those places are, and considering how nothing but negativity entrenches the users there due to various circumstances, I've decided to take a short hiatus from using those sites. Well... except for the latter. Prior to my departure, I've asked a question regarding one of the games I've liked and some history behind it, and someone decided to give some of the greatest information that I've never expected to see from this game of mine, and, cause I asked this for a review I'll have later down the road, I'm coming back to Bluesky when I have no other review that I got on my mind other than that specific game. When is that going to be? I don't know, but I will say that I am jam packed with ideas of games to review, so I'll just say... I'll come when I feel like it.
College Revisit
To go onto the next thing that happened this month, it's the beginning of college. For a while, I didn't even have a college last semester due to personal circumstances, but thankfully I managed to get them done for me to have it this semester, and It would've started earlier but due to a snowstorm I'm pretty sure you know about, classes had to be delayed, which had me happy but also a bit worried that I might not have a good start to one of the classes I thought I might have trouble with but thankfully on the day of the first class, Im knowing that not only I'm going to pass this class, I'm going to pass it good, and utilize the resources that my instructor has for me. The last one that I had last semester, didn't really do a good job on their first start, and what ended up happening is that I lost track quickly on what I'm supposed to do, and until I hsf the opportunity to withdrawal, I had nothing to keep me from moving forward with success from that class. This may still be on similar subject matter, but this new professor does it in a way that will get me in the right direction, and with the other class I have being fully online, I'll have to make sure that I'm also doing that at the same time and not get myself off track.
Some Games!!!!!
It's finally time for me to touch the family Switch 2 because without the first few days of January, my mother decided to gift the family Kirby Air Riders, a sequel to one of the games that defined our childhood, and considering that we still played the original to this day, it was fitting that would be the second switch 2 game that we'd get, with Mario Kart World being first. Honestly, my thoughts about that game are mixed (a serious review will happen eventually), but Kirby Air Riders managed to deliver the same amount of quality that I remembered from the numerous family scessions but with a modern twist to it, featuring enhancements that do make the game a little bit more competitive-focused, but we ain't playing it for the competitiveness but for the seni-coopwrative playthroughs of the City Trial Modes, and such. On my end, since I've reviewed the original game in the past, the stars aligned with my thoughts, and I had to start composing a new review for this game, so you can look forward to that, too.
As for the other games, a person I engage with gifted me some Steam games for me as a late Christmas present: KAMIKO, and Hades. The first one I've done a review for, and in a nutshell, it's a little Action Adventure game that is over before you know it. It's a game made by Skipmore around the Switch 1's few first days, and the game is alright, outside of a few major instances that were frowned upon by myself. Hades however, brought me an experience that was reminiscent of the time that I've played it's sequel at the Switch 2 Experience. I definitely have plans to play more of that later down the road, and some of the other Steam games that I haven't touched or barely touched in the future. To if I'm going to review them though, I wouldn't know until I play them for a good amount of time.
And last but not least, with me playing KAMIKO, it got me playing the Fairune series again. The one flash game and the 3ds duology. they're quite fantastic games and they were a massive step-up from KAMIKO in terms of gameplay. they still had its fair share issues but it wasn't enough for me to rate it just as much as Kamiko. I'm still in the process of going through the second game, but the first one I've completed, and a review is in pending. That's all I got to say for gaming for this month, and in the midst of college I hope to experience more games down the road.
NEW/Revisited Games I've played and/or reviewed this month:
Note: I've started playing these games in date order.
New
Revisited
This is the Japanese version of Tetris Party Deluxe, and as it contains features not present in the US versions, I decided to include it on here as a new game. 'sides, I never played this version of the game before.↩
