📄︱August 2026 Recap
The month of August finally comes to a close, and while there hasn't been much that's happened this month, there's enough for me to make a blog post about it. Strap in because I'm posting this one a few days before when I usually post this because college is around the corner.
Gaming Hurdles
Gaming was all over the place throughout this month. I mentioned in my last blog that I was doing an Archipelago for the server that I was in, but due to me being BK (stuck) inside of my games for 2/3rds of August since the start of it, I've asked the Archipelago host to release my games, and its been done. Honestly, everyone I knew that was participating inside of said Archipelago experienced burnout of some kind, and some went alongside me and released their games as well. Some didn't through, and as its still going, I hope that they're able to complete their archipelago and do another one later down the road when everyone's motivated. On the topic of Archipelago however, some of my favorite games have gotten implementations: Rhythm Tengoku (Rhythm Heaven GBA), and its improvement Rhythm Heaven Advance, WarioWare: Mega Microgame$! For GBA, New Super Mario Bros, and--while completely vibe coded--Core Keeper. I'm not too fond of vibe coded anything since I tend to prefer to play and experience projects that people made with their minds and not with the assistance of artificial intelligence since it personally ruins the genuine-factor of it (among some other things), I don't have a bunch of games to personally play on my end, and I too was at fault of completely Vibe coding an instance for a game that doesn't have support: The Legend of Dark Witch 4, using the Unity Beta fork. I've made a post in the official Archipelago Discord in hopes it can be saw and done, but in the meantime, I have to play with what I got with, and more the more I get into other games and stuff.
Now for general gaming, while I did most certainly play a wide variety of games , I couldn't get myself to be interested in going further into them and whatnot. When you pair this with the struggles with getting into college, this month has definitely been one of the weakest so far when it comes to gaming. Even as of writing this, I've thought of fixing this by keeping count of the games I've made significant progress for on my Backloggd, and even then I still don't keep track of them much.
Mood Swings
My mood has also been over the place, especially in the middle half. The beginning was extremely great: me and our family have done our annual vacation, and it was AMAZING. Barely any rainy days, and we even had guests that we knew come over on one of the days of our trip. But then after camping, it kind of dipped. I mean, outside of one day when me and one of my brothers went on a borderline adventure, this month was just overwhelming with mood and whatnot. Not to mention the usual thinking about something I used to do back then or someone I used to engage with back then coming to haunt me every now and then... I really need to learn how to actually let go of some of my experiences....All of this went down the drain however when I've heard news about my submitted scholarships, though.
I'M FINALLY BACK IN COLLEGE
YES THIS ACTUALLY CHANGFED MY AUGUST IN A POSITIVE DIRECTION.So, I kept it intentionally vague since I didn't want to go into detail on what happened with what's going on in college, but after filling in some opportunities for scholarships to help get me back into shape for my next semester, I waited a decent bit and have ACTUALLY GOTTEN THE SCHOLARSHIPS. They DID drop me out of the classes due to non-payment before I received them, but of the two classes that I've signed up, I still managed to secure a spot just in time for college to start. Thankfully its 100% gaming oriented, and this time it has to do with World Building!
It's been a while since I've touched upon my magnum opus that is [REDACTED], but now since I'm talking a class that's meant to help students learn how to properly world build (like the kinds you see in JRPGs and other story heavy genres), I'm able to potentially put [REDACTED] onto the spot for cleanup in the rough areas that I've left out as a kid. If I had a nickel for Every time I've used this project in school of any kind, I'd have two nickels, which is weird but its really helpful that it happened twice.
To end off this summer, I've decided to have another Link to Terraria secession with one of my greatest friends, and now I can finally focus on getting college and everything else straightened out. This September is really going to be great! I meant to make this an incredibly short blog post, but I think I got a bit carried away at the end because college massively improved my overall mood that's been shifting throughout this month. I hope you guys continue to have a great day! :D
NEW/Revisited Games I've played and/or reviewed this month:
Note: I've started playing these games in date order.
